The most common use of chromium is “chromium plating”, which is in fact a layer of chromium that is applied (by electrolysis) on a base, which can be made of steel, aluminum, brass, copper and the like. The chrome is quite shiny, lighter in color, and goes more bluish. The company Galvanotehnik provides decorative chrome plating services.
